In fact, if you are building a home-based business based on network marketing, you will want to be contagious. I want to show you how YOU can become contagious to the point that you are spreading your network marketing business-building approach to anyone who comes into contact with you. In order to be contagious, you must know about and put into practice some principles that will make a difference. High potency! Close proximity! Clear communication! Positive Attitude! Be Real! "A contagious person will make opportunities!" HIGH POTENCY Sharing and communicating what you have to offer is so important, but you must do it in a way that you emit confidence and belief in what you want to share with others. Often times, it is not so much about what you present, but how you present it. Is there excitement in your voice? Are you matter of fact to the point that they can tell you believe in what you are doing? Do you come across as confident rather than apprehensive, yet not arrogant? Excitement and confidence in what you are doing will yield "high potency" to the point that others will take you very seriously. "Opportunity is frequently overlooked because it disguises itself as work." CLOSE PROXIMITY Networking your business requires your putting yourself in front of others. This may be in the form of a letter, or email, or postcard or flyer or even a website, not to mention person to person interaction. The most effective close proximity approach is eyeball to eyeball. We all know that, but we now have tools available that can put us in close proximity with others. The phone, conference calls, chat rooms are examples of ways to get close to people even if you are not physically close. Use several strategies to get into close proximity with others. "Influence is a thing you think you have until you try to use it!" CLEAR COMMUNICATION Communicate with people in a way in which they can clearly understand what you want of them. Be direct! Be real! Be intense! Be nice! If you do those things, the result will be "high impact"! "Before putting others in their place, put yourself in their place." POSITIVE ATTITUDE Always emit a positive attitude even when you don't feel like it. A sponsor of mine once told me that my excitement will do the sponsoring for me. I really didn't understand that until I noticed that how I felt on the inside made a difference on the outside. That meant that if I didn't have a positive attitude within me, even a mask of a positive attitude on the outside would keep me from sponsoring. One of the best ways to have a positive attitude is to surround yourself with motivational tapes. When you get "turned on" to something, it is so easy to get others "turned on" because you just can't help yourself. There are many motivational tapes available. You should be listening to at least one a week. One tape I like to put into people's hands, especially people who are looking at starting up their own home-based business for the first time, is "Escape The Rat Race" by Randy Gage. In fact, when I send this tape out, I include a note that says "Are you the person described on the enclosed tape?" That motivates people to listen to it to see what I am talking about. If you would like this tape, send me $3.00 and request the Randy Gage tape called "Escape The Rat Race". Send to JAN-L Marketing, Inc., 12004 Parkland Ct., Louisville, KY 40243. "Always keep your chin up unless you are a prizefighter!" BE REAL What may sound like the simplest of the principles I mention may actually be most difficult because of the "mode" we put ourselves in. You see, for some people, becoming highly potent, and getting up close and communicating clearly and having a positive attitude is out of character. Doing things that don't come naturally puts a person in an unnatural mode and they are no longer themselves. That is why it takes time to "become" real after you "act" the above principles out. When you act them out long enough, it is then possible they can become a part of you. Remember to be you! Personable, caring, sensitive and any other characteristics that make you "YOU"! Be "real" and let others know you are still you! "Kindness is a language that the deaf can hear and the blind can see." Get contagious and touch someone! Lon Lindsey Publisher The Masternetworker
