To be effective on the Internet, one must make connections and build relationships. The Internet really does offer a way to make a difference and you can become an outstanding citizen in the Internet community. I've been meaning to write an article on making connections and building relationships on the Internet. As an educator, I knew that if someone could do something better, then let them do it and give them credit for a job well done. I've also found that knowledge is knowing where to go to get the information you need. I have done just that with the article this week. Marvin Golesch sent me his article on "Eleven Tips To Improving Performance." I'm sure I can't do a better job, so I've decided to let Marvin do it for me. Marvin has a way to attract people to him and he does it through his being positive along with humor. His approach to communicating with people is what networking is all about. Based on that, please learn from and enjoy Marvin's message. *********************************************************************** This is a reminder that the Master Networker series is purposely set up for the beginning networker or for those considering networking or even for networkers who have yet to be successful in networking. Because that isn't how networking works. I've been in networking for twelve years, and I have yet to meet anyone who has obtained networking riches without working for it . . .especially $90,000 in ninety days. I hope you've been watching what is taking place right under our noses. It is BIGGER than BIG yet ... as some people may look at the Internet as a *Magic* Pill ... still others see it as a Novelty with some probability to increasing business activity. The following are some things that have helped me in building relationships over the past and CAN HELP YOU with your efforts to building a successful organization both Online and Offline. After all .. it's the relationships we build that ultimately define our success. 1.RECOGNITION: Getting your name out in the light is a MUST !! If you are looking to build a business online .... YOU MUST come out of the shadows and begin sharing and discussing. Unless you are wired here *just* for reading .. don't expect do much business building. Bottom line is ... The Internet will NOT produce any *Magical* results UNLESS you decide to participate. It is NOT a MAGIC and things WON'T happen unless you initiate the actions to produce the results you want. I know that many people spend their time lurking and IMHO that's okay .... ..... for awhile. I spent awhile myself as a lurker before I felt comfortable in adding to discussion. I now build more online than offline and the ease of communication online is a MAJOR factor. You should try YOUR VERY BEST to learn as you lurk. You should also try to step out of the shadow at some point. Don't be afraid of speaking out whatever you do. You need to make the leap to contribute and if mistakes are made consider it educating yourself. While you're lurking .. be attentive to what is happening around you. The Internet is a very busy place and distractions are easy to get caught up in. Try to learn how people react to other people .. learn what to do and what not to do. ALWAYS PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT IS HAPPENING AROUND YOU and >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>ALWAYS try to be POSITIVE !!!<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Voicing your opinion in a negative way, IMO is something NOT to practice unless you are already well known on the net and have an established name that people can recognize and trust. You could do yourself great harm and slow down the whole process of establishing rapport. I have seen some seriously NEGATIVE comments as we all have, yet some of the originators of this negativity have an established reputation and it really seems to do virtually no harm to them. Still ... I will NEVER be one to be negative as long as I can prevent it . 2. PRAISING: Praise others whenever you see an opportunity to do so. People ABSOLUTELY LOVE to be given attention and if the attention is putting them in the shining light they will almost immediately take a liking to it and MORE importantly to YOU!! . . . but be sincere! This is one GIANT step in creating MANY possible long-term relationships. 3.HELPING: Help others as often as you can. If you can offer ANYTHING to someone in the way of helpful advice, you will be accepted with open arms. Even if the acceptance doesn't happen overnight .. keep HELPING !! I assure you it WILL happen. You just need to combine Patience, Persistence with Perseverance and things will happen ..... Trust me .. This WORKS !! People who know me know I LOVE to HELP. 4.NAME RECOGNITION: !!! IMPORTANT !!! ALWAYS, when posting .. USE A REAL NAME. IMHO ... There is nothing worse than getting a mystery message which you respond back and you DON'T know who it is you're replying back to. This has always kind of bothered me. If you want recognition ... USE YOUR NAME. Nobody really wants to do business with a mystery. I don't .. Do you ? 5.POINT OF REFERENCE: Posting your geographic place of residence can be a REAL CHARM. I have managed to bring people together by doing this. You'd be surprised at how many people I have shared E-mail with and then find out that they are very local to me. You'd also be surprised at how many people I have introduced through my bizops that end up being local to each other. One case I had introduced two GREAT ladies I know and it turned out they lived only 4 blocks from each other. In a sense I am feeling like a MLM Matchmakers Service and if I have helped YOU meet someone in your local area you'll understand that this MAKES SENSE. Also .. the bill is on the snail for those to which this has applied 6.EXPOSE IDENTITY: Expose just a little bit about yourself .. By doing this you are opening up doors to a furthered communication. I often have told people I am a Father of 3 who Networks FULLTIME while still holding down a PART TIME J.O.B. I make NETWORKING my days PRIORITY even at the P/T J.O.B. This helps encourage people who feel they don't have enough time and shows them that it really is all about a self made commitment to succeeding the dream. Some people tell me they are not allowed to speak on the J.O.B. .. WHAT BETTER REASON TO WANT TO MAKE THE GREAT ESCAPE !! DO you have a better reason ?? If you do .. I'd LOVE to hear YOUR reason !! Now don't be flooding my inbow with countless reasons >G< 7.CHOOSING A TEACHER: Seek out and choose a mentor. Find someone who has qualities you admire. See what and if they can offer advice in regards to your situation. You'll find that most people that are seen as mentors are more than willing to offer the time of day even if you are not in the business with them. Some people love to help others ... and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE to work with those types. 8.FORM HABITS: Make it a HABIT to check your E-mail frequently. I end my day and begin each new one by getting and responding to my E-mail. Some people say that getting back to someone too fast is a sign that their business is not going well .... I tend to disagree. I made it a habit to check in numerous times a day and ALWAYS get back asap. I like the speed of communication E-mail offers. I figure YOU and I May as well take advantage of it. YOU never know when that person on the other end will be checking their E-mail again. Best if you have a response sitting in their inbox when they do. As far as getting your materials out via snail mail. A big impact WILL be made when being prompt and using Priority Mail or even by using Overnight Air with those BIG DEALS you're working on. Look for *RED APPLES* and then use Overnight Air .. all else at the very least use 3 day Priority. The small added cost will make a BIG difference in the longrun. PLUS the extra costs goes towards a tax write off. If you are doing direct mailings .. committ to sending out so many per week and don't stop unless you are sending out 10th generation photo copies. In that case .. don't start. You'd be better off spending a little extra time and or money to have some work redone so that at least you can have great quality materials. YOU do want to look Professional don't you? 9.FOLLOW UP!: FOLLOW UP, FOLLOW UP, FOLLOW UP !!!! It is said that .... and I agree with .... " The Fortune is in the Follow up" This is a Golden Rule that EVERYONE should live by. You'll never close on all follow ups, but by doing them you will increase your closings. Once you have closed and sponsored someone make it a commitment on YOUR part to give and offer them your time to help. Use your upline to help also. it will play a critical part in the duplication of your efforts. Following up on a prospect may require more than one or two contacts. Do your VERY BEST to make an impression and they may even get back to you. I have had people come to me after as long as 6 months from my last follow up. Sometimes timing for one is not right and when it is .. YOU will be glad YOU made a positive impression. 10.REGISTER A BUSINESS NAME: IF YOU ARE VERY SERIOUS ABOUT BUILDING A LARGE LONGTERM BUSINESS AND ORGANIZATION .... >>>>Go out and register a business name !!! <<<<<< You will feel MORE commited to YOU and others will see it that way. I started out marketing online with my birthname. I had registered my business as Marketing Advantage Group as a name to do business under. It was not until recently that I made it known online with my E-mail address reflecting the fact. A business name will give the professional look you and others desire. Nobody has to know I sit in my shorts while working my business ...... ( ; ooops, guess you do now ; ) >S< and now that my Business name is attached to my birthname the response has been VERY positive and much more than I had expected. I even recently helped a couple of friends choose a name for their business. Keep an eye open for "Wright Choice Marketing " and "Cloud Nine Marketing" coming soon to an E-mail near you 11. VISUAL AIDS: Something I've found that makes the day brighter for me and my associates is that when I send an information packet out I like to Include a family photo. You can do the same if you choose to by sending a picture of of you and your family. Makes finding you at the airport a little easier . Most of my BEST people are all long distance to me and giving them a photo brings the relationship a little closer to home. Currently I am out of family pictures ... if you want one, I would be more than Happy to send one later. Just drop me a note I HONESTLY hope you have gained something through my trials and errors.
