Through this article, you will find the power you already have through the people you already know. It will help you jog your memory of all the people who know you. So you thought you could come up with only a hundred names or so? Wait until after you read this and make a list. Also consider how your attitude determines your altitude! ><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> This is a reminder that the Master Networker series is purposely set up for the beginning networker or for those considering networking or even for networkers who have yet to be successful in networking. This means that The Master Networker series covers basic networking principles with the purpose of developing a firm foundation for networking. "The Master Networker" will be void of information that will thrust you to a $90,000 income within 90 days or a $15,000 monthly income without doing any work. Why? Because that isn't how networking works. I've been in networking for thirteen years, and I have yet to meet anyone who has obtained networking riches without working for it . . .especially $90,000 in ninety days. This series is about the real world of networking. <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> Y O U H A V E T H E P O W E R by LON LINDSEY YOU HAVE THE POWER TO MAKE THINGS GO! "Networking" is a relative new name for an old game called multi-level although it is possible to be networking for a non multi-level program. Networking means talking, calling, meeting, contacting, and asking. I recently introduced one of my new representatives to the leading income earner in the business I am working. This leading income earner is making a six digit annual income with this company (within seven years of starting) and when my new associate shook his hand, a very simple statement was made by this large income earner. He simply said "talk to people." Wow! No magic systems, no big hype, no fancy prospecting . . .. just "talk to people." That's what networking is all about! It's talking to people . . connecting with people . . .sharing with people . . . providing information to people. Networking is truly powerful, but only because it involves people. Yes, networking is a people approach to building a business. Networking is the personal side of career and job hunting. When we look for jobs, we network in order to increase the possibilty of being hired for a job. An awesome 70% of all jobs and businesses are found through personal contacts and over 90% of the jobs and businesses that people really love are found that way. Many people mistakenly think that network marketing is only for CEOs, capitalists and movie stars . . .but not for secretaries, graphic designers, teachers or day-care workers. They don't think they have any worthwhile contacts. "I don't have any network," they say. "I don't belong to any professional organizations. I'm not a member of the Moose or Elks." That type of thinking is totally wrong, because everyone has networks. Everyone is a member of many groups and constituencies. You have relatives. You live in a neighborhood. Many of your relatives and neighbors know people who work or have friends who work in businesses you'd like to know more about. Do you go to a church of any kind, or a gym? Do you have a hairdresser, a barber, a lawyer, a plumber, or an accountant? They all have their own friends. Did you ever have another job? Where are your co-workders now? Don't assume that only people in your own field of work can help you in a serarch for just the right business for you. Everybody has a web of connections. One way or another, you will find the connection that is of most value to you. A NETWORK INVENTORY You will be amazed at the number of people you know and who knows you. The list is almost endless for everyone. Make a list no matter how long, of the people that you want to contact to help you in your search for just the right business for you. The list would include such people as business contacts, personal contacts, membership contacts, plus community and college contacts. Here is a partial list to which you can add your own categories. Business contacts would include: co-workers; former co-workers; bosses; peers; subordinates; business acquaintances, even competitors; business vendors (company lawyer, accoutant, insurance agent, suppliers); business clients and customers. Personal contacts would include: relatives; personal friends; personal service consultants (lawyer, accountant, insurance agent, banker, real estate broker); personal service consultants (doctor, dentist, psychiatrist, hairdresser, barber, veterinarian); home and car maintenance consultants (plumber, mechanic, carpenter, electrician, gardener); athletic contacts (people at your gym, on your teams); friends and business contacts of your spouse; teachers of your children; parents of your children's friends; classmates; teammates; your minister, priest or rabbi, and people in the congregation; former classmates in high school, college, and graduate school; former classmates at any training sessions or seminars you've attended; faculty and administrators you knew at any school you've attended; social acquaintances; neighbors; friends and neighbors of your parents and other relatives; anybody else on your holiday card list. Membership contacts would include (members of any of these groups) professional organizations (American Chemical Society, Computer society, writing groups, etc.); political organizations (town meetings, local campaign groups, etc.); social welfare or public affairs organizations (local environmental clubs, etc); community organizations (Elks, Moose, Scouts, etc.) veterans organizations (F.F.W., etc); hobby organizations (ham radio, stamp club, coin club, etc); school organizations (teams, fraternities, sororities, volunteer groups, etc.). Community/college contacts would include: local politicians (in your own community or the community you'd like to live in); local merchants, especially the local newspaper people; local Chamber of Commerce or other business organization; college alumni association; staff of your college career-planning office. The whole idea is for you to become aware of the fact that you really do know alot of people who, in turn, know alot of people. In other words, YOU DO HAVE THE POWER. Almost all businesses are designed and centered around the concept of people helping peole. It doesn't really take an awful lot of pepole to make a business successful, but it does take the repeat business of a few loyal customers that might be friends, neighbors, relatives, or almost anyone. Serve your customers, friends every courtesy and respect possible. It is through them that your business will survive; because of them, Y0U HAVE THE POWER! ACHIEVING SUCCESS A good definition of success is "learning from your failures." Sooner or later, we all fail at something . . at least in our own minds we feel we fail. Your "failures" will provide you with invaluable information. There is no better time or place to learn what you can do - and what you can't do or don't want to do. In sports, athletes are always raising the bar and driving themselves a little harder to reach a goal the only weeks ago, might have seemed unattainable. Few people in "LIFE" treat their businesses with the same drive and determination. Few of us dream big enough dreams and then push hard enough to achieve them. People who really love what they are doing set their bars high enough to create excitement. Lower would assure minimal success, a small pat on the back. Higher might risk defeat, a company reorganization that didn't live up to expectations. But higher might also mean a big triumph and an unforgettable feeling of achievement. If you have already experienced defeat, don't despair. Remember, your goals and your desires were the very reasons for your bars in the first place. As always, if at first you don't succeed, try, try again. If it is your desire to earn $1,000 per month, or even $5,000 a month, just keep raising your bars until, all of a sudden, much to your astonishment, you will have arrived. You may not know how you got there, but the important thing is that you had the desire to succeed until you finally did succeed. Try not to view failure as a complete negative. If you're not punished unusually hard for your unsuccessful attemps, you may find that "failing" is the best possible way to learn. Gymnasts and figure skaters fall over and over again in the early stages of learning a new move. Have they totally failed? No! Each time they fall, they learn a little more about how to stand up the next time. Often, when you're not doing well at something, you blame yourself - and others may blame you also. It's entirely possible, though, that you are working hard - but at the wrong thing. We're not all good at everything. The square peg that is trying to go into the round hole doesn't mean that it is a badly shaped or deformed round peg. It simply need another more suitable hole to go into. There are many different kinds of people. There are people who have many different talents and various degrees or types of intelligence. Straight "A"s in high school may demonstrate only that you can get straight "A"s in high school. Some very successful people were mediocre students, had dull early careers, and were fired from several jobs. How did they finally make it? They didn't suddenly get smart. They simply found what was right for them. They found the square hole for the square peg. DEVELOPING A BUSINESS THAT WILL LAST William James said "The greatest use of life is to use it for something that will outlast it." Some people are discouraged when the goal is a long-term one. That is why it is best to go from one short-term goal to another. But those who can keep focused on a meaningful goal, be it short term or long term, are often the people who love what they are doing the most. Remember, there are limits to planning. Don't sacrifice the time you have now by always looking toward tomorrow. Someone once said, "Life is what happens while you're making plans for the future." Don't be so focused on the future that you don't seize today's opprotunties. Develop your business so that it is a fun machine. Laughter and satisfaction lengthens our lives. Hostility and aggression shortens them. It's a scientific fact. If your business is fun for you, count your blessings and keep laughing. Don't think that you need to analyze, excel and strive until you're miserable. "To love what you do and feel that matters . . . how could anything be more fun" - Anon- Patience will always achieve more than force. Sometimes an organization or a business needs patience too. Some things are out of our hands to control, and sometimes it's hard for busy, productive, striving people to face that fact. Stress results when we worry about or try to control those things we cannot control. Developing a business - any business - is never easy. It is easy to shake one's faith in oneself. The people around us affect our emotions and our motivation. Happy, helpful people give you a boost. Gloomy or angry people are bound to drag you down with them. If you have a chance, try to stay away from people who are pessimistic and unenergetic. There are lots of happy, positive, energetic people out there. Develop your business around and with them. You've probably heard "your attitude determines your altitude." Changes is fundamental to all life, including our life's work. The most human of all traits is the need to modify the world we live in. You must come to terms with change, even welcoming it and responding to it with enthusiasm. You've got the power to make things happen. Your enthusiasm and dedication will make them last. ************************************************************************ Do you want to LOOK GOOD, SOUND GOOD and FEEL GOOD on the web?
