I saw something flying around on the Internet this week which gave me the idea to write about "SPAM" this week. For those of you new to the Internet, you will want to read this article to know what it is. For those of you who already know what SPAM is, you might be interested in my opinion regarding SPAM. Additionally, I provide some thoughts on how to get around getting in trouble for SPAMMING. Ironically, you've probably been spammed lately about a new approach to dealing with SPAM . . . and guess what, it's included within this article as well . Oh . .by the way . . SPAM is not something you eat while browsing the Internet! ><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> This is a reminder that the Master Networker series is purposely set up for the beginning networker or for those considering networking or even for networkers who have yet to be successful in networking. This means that The Master Networker series covers basic networking principles with the purpose of developing a firm foundation for networking. "The Master Networker" will be void of information that will thrust you to a $90,000 income within 90 days or a $15,000 monthly income without doing any work. Why? Because that isn't how networking works. I've been in networking for thirteen years, and I have yet to meet anyone who has obtained networking riches without working for it . . .especially $90,000 in ninety days. This series is about the real world of networking. Get it right the first time! <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> YOUR DESIRE WILL MAKE IT SO! SPAM! . . . WHAT IS IT AND IS IT REALLY BAD? SPAM! . . WHAT IS IT? On the Internet, SPAM is not something you eat while browsing! SPAM is simply the emailing to people who have not asked you to email them. SPAMMING is usually done from people, groups or companies who are trying to promote something they represent . . . be it a business opportunity, products, services. It doesn't matter if you are giving away ONE HUNDRED DOLLAR BILLS! If you are mailing to people who have not asked for it, then the Internet Service Providers define it as SPAM. THE INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDERS(ISP) . . THE ONES REALLY IN CONTROL Most Internet providers and service providers have a strict rule against sending unsolicited E-Mail to more than 15 addresses at one time. More would be considered spamming which could lead to your having your ISP account cancelled . . .thus your losing your email and your web pages if you house them with that ISP. We are told, the reason, of is heavy usage degrades Internet resources and speed and, of course, if too many people complain to their, yours or our service provider, someone must be stopped or disconnected so things are not spoiled for all. Personally, I think the main reason is "customer" complaints and since the Internet Providers want to please their largest customer base (the ones who just use the Internet to browse and get information) they have the ears listening to these customers who complain. THE REAL PROBLEM IS WHO YOU ARE MAILING TO The "Ugly" is not bulk e-mailing if you are bulk emailing to people who know you. The "Ugly" is the bulk emailing to people who do not know you or you don't know them. I can see bulk emailing being appropriate when mailing out to your downline or a group of people you know, but even then, if you are advertising or promoting something, it might turn them off to you and what you are promoting. Using an apology at the beginning of a bulk email helps some, but it doesn't hide the fact that it's still spamming. MY OWN PERSONAL VIEW OF SPAMMING First of all, you must understand that I am a marketer and therefore I see things somewhat differently than maybe someone who is using the Internet for informtion gathering or just enjoyable browsing or perhaps simply as a tool to communicate with family members and other people they know. Although I don't personally bulk email (SPAM), I really don't have anything against it. My feeling is I can delete a "SPAM" faster than a speeding bullet and more powerful than a hard disk drive crash! After a period of time, you reach the point in which you can almost recognize SPAM by looking at the subject or email address the SPAM is coming from and it's just a matter of clicking that delete button. Although SPAMMERS can be very creative in their subject titles . . within a word or two in the message, you know what you have. It is argued that offline we receive "junk mail" and there is nothing wrong with sending junk mail . . .but the truth the bulk postal mailers are paying for such and you can bet the postal department does not want to cut off it's nose despite it's face. I find "junk mail" offline is easily recognizable and is as easy to "delete" as standing over a trash can as I sort through my mail . . . almost as fast as a speeding online SPAM message being deleted! THERE ARE WAYS, THOUGH! There are ways to SPAM and get by with it. There are ISPs that are available for SPAMMING (bulk e-mail friendly), but what usually happens is once spamming is noticed from these sites, there are other ISP sites which filter these addresses out so they can't get to their customers. So . .what you have is certain bulk emailers moving from server to server to stay ahead of the filters. UTILIZING BULK EMAILER SERVICES The advantage of utilizing a bulk email service can be they will be a screening service for you for responses you get to your email. That means, not only can they collect the "leads" or names and email addresses of those who are interested in what you have to offer, they can also filter out the obscene messages (flames) that you would surely receive should you do this on your own. Be sure to check with the bulk email service to see if they do provide that service. Another consideration when contracting for bulk email, know that email addresses come and go quickly. One way people avoid receiving so much SPAM is to change their email address or "screen name" often. This creates a huge number of non deliverable addresses . . .so when you are told your bulk email service provider will email to 500,000 people, that doesn't mean 500,000 will actually get it . . and then when you consider the number who will read it . . . you have to know that 500,000 may not be as many as you had hoped for. BUT, I SAY DO IT! If you are a marketer of any kind and you do not yet have a warm market or following of people or if you want to increase your warm market, then I say DO IT! Go ahead and bulk email through a service provider, but I highly recommend you not bulk e-mail, yourself, unless you have a way to escape having your ISP cancelled. A RATHER NEW UNIQUE APPROACH FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO BULK EMAIL OR DON'T MIND RECEIVING BULK EMAIL Consider this: 1. Being able to mail to people who actually want and will accept SPAM! 2. Getting paid to find these people via an automatic replicating web page process! 3. Having access to a whole data base of email addresses of people who will accept SPAM! 4. Having another unique way to connect with people to offer your best opportunity to! 5. Actually make some extra CASH in the process! 6. They will show you how to set up an alternate email address so you don't have to wade through all the SPAM . . and you can get these online FREE. 7. Will cost you a whopping $5.00 . . . that's right FIVE DOLLARS! Bulk email has been a long debate on the Internet, there are many arguments surrounding it, and yet each day we all receive some unsolicited email. For this reason there is now... " SPAM ADDRESS ".
